Staples Rewards Card Programs

The Staples Rewards program is free to all Staples shoppers. There are three levels of membership. All Staples Rewards members start out at the Basic level. When the account is used for at least $500 in purchases, the member is automatically upgraded to a Staples Rewards Plus account. When the account is used for at least $1,000 in purchases the Plus account is upgraded to a Premier account. Customers can enroll a card they picked up in the store or apply for a new Staples Rewards card online [+].

Earning Staples Card Rewards & Benefits

With each Staples purchase, online and in stores, Staples Rewards members earn 5% of the purchase in rewards. All members receive Basic rewards, but as the members are upgraded to Plus and Premier, rewards increase.

  • Basic: 5% cash back on most purchases, free shipping from Staples.com and $2 cash back for exchanging ink cartridges when you spend $30 on new cartridges up to 10 recycled cartridges per month.
  • Plus: All Basic member rewards, but the maximum number of ink cartridges allowed per month increases to 20. Plus members also receive up to $10 in cash back rewards when using any Staples Office on the Go services.
  • Premier: All Basic and Plus rewards with the addition of a cash back reward up to $20 per year for design services and an instant discount of 5% on copy and print services.

Redeeming Your Benefits

All Staples Rewards benefits are calculated at the end of the year (November for Staples Rewards). After receiving your rewards certificate by email or US mail, Basic and Plus members have three months to use the rewards. Premier members have six months to use the rewards certificate. Customers can log in to their Staples Rewards account to see how much money they’ve spent and earned using the Staples Rewards card [+].

Fee Schedule for the Staples Rewards Card Program

There are no fees for the Staples Rewards program, but there are limitations [+]. According to the Terms and Conditions, Staples Rewards are not eligible when the customer purchases postage, phone cards or gift cards.

Canceling Your Staples Rewards Card

There is no need to cancel your Staples Rewards card. If you no longer wish to participate in the program simply stop using the card at Staples stores and on Staples.com. All rewards will expire within three months of issuance for Basic and Plus members and six months of issuance for Premier members.

    You website is not user friendly! I have been trying find out how much my rewards are for several days now, I even went into your store in Ft. Smith AR & the Tech there could not get me to the place where we actually find out how much my rewards are. After trying unsuccessfully for about 30 min. we both gave up and I tried again today with my daughter helping me with no success! When your customer logs into your staplesrewards.com they expect to be taken to the log in site then directly to their rewards. Instead it takes you to a site showing you the daily deals & no option to get to your rewards! I didn’t want to know the daily deals or that’s what I would have logged on to. I am very upset that I get rewards and then have no way to track them. Sincerely, Linda

    I fully agree with Linda! Get a new website developer! I have tried to find out my rewards amount, too, but unsuccessfully. I was particularly interested in why I had not received $2 for the approximately 10 ink cartridges returned for rebate. I guess in reading something re: rewards, that amount goes into rewards. Not being able to access reward amounts needs to be corrected! When we can access our rewards amount I will feel “rewarded”. Seems to me I should log in, click on “see your rewards” and it should come up–in seconds. I don’t have time to play with this system. Karen

    I really resent the fact that the Rewards are so hard to find. I used to get them via e-mail, but now it’s difficult to find them. Is that on purpose?

      I couldn’t agree more. They used to be emailed; now they’re not and, furthermore, everytime I try to log in to my staples account, it tells me I have the wrong user/password. The runaround hardly makes it worthwhile to attempt to collect.
